Peel police investigate Mississauga hit-and-run after woman dies near Eglinton Review the crash details and witness appeal as investigators search for the driver
Peel police say a woman in her 30s has died after being struck by a vehicle in Mississauga early Sunday morning. The collision happened around 6:10 a.m. near Eglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway, and the driver left the scene.
Paramedics took the woman to a local hospital with lifethreatening injuries, where she was later pronounced dead. Police said the woman appeared to be in the area near the hospital, but investigators have not said why she was there or whether she was arriving or leaving.
Investigators initially described the fleeing vehicle as a lightcoloured sedan traveling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue, but later said that car was not involved. Police are reviewing evidence and video footage to identify the vehicle and driver, and have asked nearby auto businesses and junk yards to watch for cars with frontend and windshield damage. The intersection has since reopened.
