Wildfire smoke and ash disrupt BC Hydro transmission lines in B.C. See how fires near Clinton are causing flickering lights and outages
BC Hydro says wildfire smoke and ash are affecting major transmission lines near Clinton, B.C., leading to flickering lights and some power interruptions for customers across the province.
According to the utility, the affected lines are part of the backbone of the grid in B.C.’s Southern Interior. BC Hydro said crews cannot safely access the area to clean or work on the lines because of the active fire situation.
The disruption comes as several wildfires continue to burn near Clinton, where evacuation orders and alerts have been issued. Officials said the Big Bar complex fires have already destroyed at least 20 structures in the Big Bar Lake area.
