Alejandro Kirk Returns to Blue Jays Roster
Blue Jays activate Alejandro Kirk as they shuffle roster before Yankees clash. See how Toronto’s lineup changes could impact a key AL East matchup.
The Toronto Blue Jays activated catcher Alejandro Kirk from the 60day injured list ahead of Friday’s game against the New York Yankees. Kirk had been out since April 3 after fracturing his left thumb and undergoing surgery.
To make room on the roster, Toronto designated backup catcher Tyler Heineman for assignment. The team said rookie Brandon Valenzuela’s recent play helped create the change behind the plate.
The Blue Jays also recalled utility player Davis Schneider from TripleA Buffalo and placed outfielder Daulton Varsho on the 10day injured list with left wrist inflammation. Righthanded pitcher Yariel Rodriguez was sent to Buffalo after clearing waivers. Toronto entered Friday third in the American League East at 3336, nine games behind the Yankees and Tampa Bay.
