Crombie proposes TTC subway extension into Mississauga
Bonnie Crombie transit plan targets a TTC Line 2 extension to Mississauga See her Sherway Gardens-to-downtown vision and what it could mean for riders
Mississauga mayoral candidate Bonnie Crombie is proposing an extension of TTC Line 2 west from Kipling station to Sherway Gardens and into the city’s centre if she is elected mayor.
Crombie said she would begin a feasibility study in her first year and open discussions with the Ontario government, the City of Toronto, the TTC and Metrolinx to build a business case for the project. She described the idea as an ambitious plan to improve Mississauga’s connection to Toronto.
Her proposal also includes broader transit measures, such as more frequent MiWay service, better links to Pearson airport and Brampton, possible expansion of Milton GO service and closer oversight of the Hazel McCallion Line. Rival candidates Dipika Damerla and Alvin Tedjo offered their own transit plans, while an academic cautioned that Crombie’s idea remains speculative and could be expensive.
