Recovery continues after charter boat sinks off Richmond coast
Richmond boat sinking recovery continues after six people went missing off Roberts Bank See what investigators know as crews await safer weather and deep-water equipment
Recovery efforts are continuing after a charter boat sank off the coast of Richmond, British Columbia, leaving six people presumed drowned.
Richmond RCMP said four men and two women are still unaccounted for after the vessel went down in the Roberts Bank area on Sunday. Four other people were rescued when nearby boats reached the scene.
Police said the recovery operation is difficult because the boat is believed to be in water about 150 to 180 metres deep. Specialized equipment, including underwater drones, will likely be needed, and crews are waiting for better weather conditions before proceeding. The Transportation Safety Board has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
