Macron invites Sam Altman to attend G7, OpenAI says
Sam Altman at G7 summit: OpenAI joins France's AI talks on safety, risks See how Macron's tech push and frontier AI concerns could shape the agenda
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman will attend the G7 summit in France later this month after receiving an invitation from President Emmanuel Macron, the company told CNBC.
France is hosting the June 1517 meeting, where artificial intelligence is expected to be a major topic. OpenAI said Altman is expected to take part in leaderlevel discussions, with the company highlighting youth safety and broader concerns about frontier AI risks, including cyber and biosecurity.
The invitation comes as Macron continues to court major tech executives to support France’s AI goals. Recent moves include SoftBank’s planned 45 billion euro investment in AI infrastructure in France, as well as other commitments tied to the country’s growing AI and data center ambitions.
