Vince Ready appointed to mediate B.C. nurses dispute

Veteran mediator Vince Ready has been appointed, alongside Amanda Rogers, to help resolve the dispute between the B.C. Nurses' Union and the province. The Labour Ministry said the two special mediators will work with the parties for 10 days and may make recommendations to the minister if a settlement is not reached. The move comes as nurses expand job action across more care centres in British Columbia, including pickets in Surrey and Vancouver, and a ban on nonnursing duties and nonessential overtime remains in place. Premier David Eby said the government wants nurses to return to work fully and acknowledged ongoing concerns over working conditions, safety, and staffing pressures.
