B.C. NDP targets Trump trade war in day 3 campaign events
BC NDP trade policy to prioritize B.C. and Canadian materials on projects See how Eby’s procurement plan could shape major infrastructure work
On the third day of the B.C. election campaign, the BC NDP focused on trade and procurement, with leader David Eby outlining plans for new "Built in B.C. and Canada" rules on public infrastructure projects.
Eby said the province should prioritize B.C. and Canadian materials for ministries, Crown agencies and health authorities where possible. He said the approach would apply to major projects, including the North Coast Transmission Line, where BC Hydro would be directed to use Canadian steel for much of the work.
The BC Green Party also announced two new candidates for the upcoming election: Raj Sahota in VictoriaBeacon Hill and David Evans in Juan de FucaMalahat. The BC Conservatives and CentreBC did not have scheduled events on Thursday.
