Cultus Lake Waterpark operator faced prior safety issues at Vernon site, regulator says

Cultus Lake Waterpark safety investigation: 12 children hurt in electrical incident See what regulators found, plus the operator's past compliance issues and park status

Technical Safety B.C. says the company that operates Cultus Lake Waterpark also had earlier safety noncompliances at its Splashdown Vernon facility, as investigators continue to examine an electrical incident that sent 12 children to hospital earlier this week. The incident happened Monday in Chilliwack, B.C., when children were waiting in line for a ride. Regulators say 12 children aged 12 to 13 suffered electrical burn injuries, and the park remains closed while the cause is investigated. The regulator is also reviewing reports that not all parts of the water park were shut down immediately after the incident. It said the operator had previously faced noncompliance issues at other facilities, including during preseason inspections at Splashdown Vernon. The company said it has cooperated with regulators and has all required permits for the 2026 season.
