Montreal police say gun violence in the city has dropped by 52% since 2021, according to their 2025 annual report. The report was presented on Wednesday by police Chief Fady Dagher and other officials. Police said fewer than onethird of homicides and attempted murders in 2025 involved a firearm, down from higher shares in previous years. Officials credited a broad effort involving police, governments, community groups, and street workers. The report also showed a 5.7% increase in sexual assaults compared with 2024. While crimes against persons and property crimes both declined slightly, the number of homicides remained unchanged at 31 cases in both 2024 and 2025. City officials said they will continue investing in public safety and prevention.
