President Donald Trump introduced a newly refurbished presidential aircraft on Friday at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, highlighting its larger size, upgraded interior, and red, white, and blue paint scheme.
The Boeing 7478i, donated by Qatar and modified for presidential use, is intended to serve as a temporary Air Force One while Boeing continues work on delayed replacement jets. Trump said the aircraft is much larger than the current plane and described it as a "flying White House."
Reporters touring the plane saw woodpaneled details, goldtoned fixtures, private seating areas, a conference room, and a press cabin with 24 seats. The Air Force said the jet will begin commissioning flights soon as part of the final testing phase before entering service.
