Stray bullet strikes Surrey home after earlier shooting at same address

A home in South Newton, Surrey, was hit by a stray bullet during an early morning shooting on Wednesday, according to police. Officers responded around 4:02 a.m. to reports of gunfire near 57 Avenue and 148 Street. Police said the house was occupied at the time, but no one was injured. The homeowner said the bullet went through a window and into an interior door frame. Investigators believe the shooting may be tied to extortion because the same home was previously targeted on May 20 and had also received threats. Surrey Police Service says the case is still in its early stages and has not confirmed whether the earlier incidents are connected to the homeowner’s recent election as president of Cricket Canada.
