NDG residents raise concerns over BIXI station near homes

Some residents in Montreal’s NotreDamedeGrâce neighbourhood are objecting to a BIXI docking station placed close to their homes, saying they were not consulted and that the installation has affected their daily lives. The 30unit station was set up on De Maisonneuve Boulevard near Grey Avenue while its usual location on Marlowe Avenue was unavailable because of HydroQuébec work. Nearby residents say the station has brought noise from bike docking, bike removals and evening replenishment, sometimes late at night. Neighbours also say the station has created privacy and safety concerns, including more bicycle traffic and possible collision risks near the residential street. The borough said placing the station near Vendôme métro was not possible for safety and operational reasons, and residents plan to bring the issue to the next borough council meeting.
