Surrey mayor objects to release of two high-risk offenders
Surrey high-risk offenders spark safety concerns after two releases in two days Police confirm monitoring as officials urge vigilance and community awareness
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke has raised concerns after two highrisk offenders were released into the city within two days.
Police said 49yearold Jonathon Anders Muzychka, who has a history of violence and property crime, is now living in Surrey under conditions and electronic surveillance. Global News reported that Muzychka previously killed a man during a robbery in 2008 and later failed to return to a halfway house in 2021.
The second man, 26yearold Skylar Wayne Pelletier, is also living in Surrey under supervision. Police said he is subject to conditions and electronic monitoring, and court records show he is under a fiveyear term supervision order for sexual assault, assault and break and enter.
Surrey police said the timing of both releases was coincidental, but confirmed officers meet with offenders when there is a publicinterest disclosure. The New Vision Society, which works with supervised offenders, said its role is to support rehabilitation and help people rebuild their lives.
