Tino Cuéllar to Join Anthropic as Chief Global Affairs Officer

MarianoFlorentino (Tino) Cuéllar will join Anthropic as the company’s first chief global affairs officer, where he will oversee policy, international engagement, and government relations worldwide.
Cuéllar brings experience from law, academia, public service, and international policy. He recently led the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and previously served on the Supreme Court of California. His background also includes roles at Stanford, the White House, federal agencies, and several advisory boards focused on security, privacy, and responsible computing.
Anthropic said the appointment comes as governments debate how to regulate and shape artificial intelligence. Cuéllar, who had been serving on Anthropic’s LongTerm Benefit Trust, said the moment is critical for democratic societies to set terms for AI development. Anthropic said he will work with policymakers, civil society, and other partners on the opportunities and risks of advanced AI.
