Lowe's to launch drone delivery with DoorDash and Alphabet's Wing

Lowe's drone delivery brings fast home improvement items in as little as 20 minutes DoorDash and Wing power the pilot in North Carolina—see how it could expand

Lowe's is preparing to offer drone delivery through a partnership with DoorDash and Alphabet's Wing, according to CNBC. The service is being tested first in North Carolina and is intended to make it easier for shoppers to get small home improvement items quickly. The company said eligible customers will be able to order more than 100 products through DoorDash, with deliveries potentially arriving in as little as 20 minutes. The drones are currently limited to about 2.5 pounds per flight and operate within a 5mile range of the Matthews, North Carolina, store. Lowe's said the program is still in a pilot phase and could expand if the test performs well. The retailer joins other companies using drone delivery, while also facing the operational and regulatory challenges that come with the technology.
