B.C. glass guitar recovered seven years after theft

A B.C. glass glazier has recovered a oneofakind electric guitar he made from pure glass, seven years after it was stolen. Stamati Charalambidis spent months designing and building the instrument, overcoming major technical challenges because of the material’s weight, balance, and fragility. He said the project took trial and error and careful adjustments before it was finally completed. The guitar was stolen in 2019, and Charalambidis later forgot about the loss as he stopped making glass guitars. This year, he received a call saying the instrument had turned up in a pawn shop. After being shown a photo, he confirmed it was his and bought it back. He said he has chosen not to remove the scratches and marks, calling them part of the guitar’s story.
