Germany Indicts Seven Over Alleged Hamas Weapons Network in Europe
German prosecutors indict Hamas weapons suspects after arrests in Germany and Austria Authorities probe a Europe-based network as officials warn of wider security risks
German federal prosecutors have indicted seven people accused of helping Hamas secure weapons for planned attacks in Germany and Austria. Authorities say the suspects were arrested between October 2025 and May 2026 and that the plot was tied to the anniversary of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
According to prosecutors, the group allegedly obtained a machine gun, 13 pistols and more than 700 rounds of ammunition, with some weapons reportedly moved to Vienna. German officials also said the Hamas network had used Europe to store weapons and coordinate procurement, while investigators examined possible links to Lebanon and other countries.
The case has drawn renewed attention to Hamas and Hezbollah activity in Germany, where both groups are banned. German officials said they continue to investigate extremist threats and monitor possible support networks, while Israeli officials warned that Hamas still poses a security risk in Europe.
