Toronto police set out safety plan for Caribbean Carnival

Toronto police said Friday they have put a safety plan in place for the Caribbean Carnival this weekend in the city. Chief Supt. Andy Singh said officers will have an increased presence in key areas, including events in the downtown core and along the waterfront. The plan comes after concerns about public safety at festivals following the fatal shooting at Salsa on St. Clair. Police also said they will use two drones to monitor crowd movement from above. Officers are asking attendees to stay aware of their surroundings, plan a meeting point if separated, secure valuables such as phones, and report anything suspicious.
