Toronto storm cleanup continues after rescues and outages

Toronto storm cleanup restores power and clears flood damage across the GTA See road closures, outage updates and recovery progress as crews reopen services

Cleanup efforts are ongoing across the Greater Toronto Area after a severe thunderstorm on Wednesday caused flooding, scattered debris, power outages and a surge in emergency calls. Toronto officials said crews and first responders handled more than 1,000 stormrelated calls, while police received about 300 reports of downed power lines over the past day. At the height of the outage, about 65,000 customers in the city were without power, though that number had dropped to roughly 6,000 by Thursday morning. Several roads and ramps remained closed as recovery work continued, including parts of the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway. The storm also disrupted airport operations, damaged Rogers Stadium, and caused flooding at Micheal Garron Hospital, though services there have since resumed. City officials said parks, pools and other facilities are being cleared and reopened as conditions allow.
