Ethan Katzberg exits Worlds as wet conditions derail his hammer throw final Canada's Budapest mixed results, from relay fourth to Morales Williams' miss
Ethan Katzberg, the Olympic and world hammer throw champion from Nanaimo, B.C., was eliminated from the men’s final at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest after recording two no throws on Friday.
Katzberg said he was in good form but could not find his rhythm in wet conditions. He pointed to a slick throwing circle and said he wished the area had been wiped before his attempts.
Germany’s Merlin Hummel won the event, while Canada also had mixed results elsewhere in Budapest. The national mixed 4x100 relay team finished fourth, and Christopher Morales Williams missed out on the men’s 400m final. The threeday meet is offering $10 million US in prize money and serves as a new showcase for track and field.
