Possible WestJet strike raises travel concerns in Kelowna

Travellers at Kelowna International Airport are watching closely as WestJet flight attendants move closer to possible strike action over the long weekend. Passengers arriving from places such as Saskatoon said they are unsure whether their return trips will be affected and some have already changed plans or booked alternate airlines to reduce the risk of disruption. Kelowna airport officials said WestJet operates most of the airport’s roughly 80 daily arrivals and departures, and they are urging passengers to check flight status before going to the terminal. WestJet has also started preparing for possible disruption by parking some aircraft, and eligible customers with trips booked through Aug. 4 can make one free change or cancel their flight.
