Montreal police say a 22yearold man arrested in Mexico on Thursday is wanted in connection with a 2025 homicide in the city. Police announced the arrest on Friday and said the case involves the killing of a 34yearold man on March 14, 2025. Officers were called just after midnight to reports of an injured person near Ontario and SaintGermain streets in the Mercier–HochelagaMaisonneuve borough. The victim was found with a stab wound to the lower body and later died in hospital. Police said it was Montreal’s fifth homicide of 2025. Two other suspects were previously arrested and charged with manslaughter, while the investigation continues and extradition proceedings are underway for the man arrested in Playa del Carmen.
