Tether and Shiga Launch Self-Custodial USDT, Bitcoin, and Gold Products for Africa
Tether self-custody tools aim to expand USDT, Bitcoin, and XAUT in Africa and the Gulf; see how ENTA and Pulse target wallets, payments, and remittances
Tether is working with Shiga to develop selfcustodial digitalasset products for users and institutions in Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council region. The initiative builds on Tether’s Wallet Development Kit and supports USDT, Bitcoin, and Tether Gold.
The collaboration includes two offerings. ENTA is designed for individuals, highnetworth users, and businesses, allowing them to fund wallets with local currency, U.S. dollars, or Bitcoin and then hold and transfer USDT, BTC, and XAUT. Pulse is aimed at banks and fintech firms that want to build digitalasset services for payments, treasury operations, and settlement.
The companies say the products are built around selfcustody, meaning users and institutions keep control of their own keys and assets. Tether also pointed to remittances as a key use case, noting the high cost of sending money to SubSaharan Africa. Shiga said it is working through the final stage of approval for a digital asset intermediary licence in Nigeria, which has not yet been granted.
