Mississauga apartment fire leaves 18 hospitalized after possible arson Police and fire investigators are probing two blazes at 920 Inverhouse Apartments
Eighteen people were taken to hospital after a fire at a Mississauga apartment building on Monday morning, with police saying the blaze may have been intentionally set. The incident happened at 920 Inverhouse Apartments, where officials said a previous fire had also broken out the night before.
Mississauga fire crews responded around 3 a.m. and found the fire on the third floor. Smoke quickly spread through the building, making it difficult for residents to use the stairwells. Firefighters rescued about 16 people from balconies on the third and fourth floors.
Peel paramedics said at least 18 people were hospitalized, including a firefighter and a police officer. Two patients were reported to be in serious but nonlife threatening condition. Police said they are reviewing CCTV footage and looking into whether the two fires are connected, while the Ontario fire marshal is also investigating.
