Visa expands stablecoin strategy with onchain lending
Visa links settlement data to blockchain lending for faster stablecoin financing. See how VisaNet and onchain records help lenders fund payment obligations.
Visa is linking settlement data from its payment network with blockchainbased lending tools as part of a broader push into stablecoinrelated services. The company said the approach could help lenders finance payment obligations using data from VisaNet and onchain transaction records.
According to Visa, the model is already being used by Credit Coop, a blockchain protocol that provides credit lines to businesses. Visa said the protocol has financed more than $2.5 billion in cumulative settlement volume since 2023 across thousands of borrowing events and repayments.
The announcement comes as Visa says stablecoin activity on its network continues to grow. The company said more than 160 stablecoinlinked card programs now run on Visa, with payment volume up nearly 200% year over year and stablecoin settlement volume reaching an annualized run rate above $20 billion.
