OpenAI launches Health in ChatGPT for U.S. users
ChatGPT Health helps users securely connect Apple Health and medical records Get context on labs, meds, sleep, and activity with privacy controls
OpenAI has launched Health in ChatGPT for loggedin U.S. users age 18 and older on web and iOS. The new feature lets people securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records so ChatGPT can use that information, with permission, to answer questions in context and help users track changes over time.
The company says Health is designed to make it easier to understand lab results, visit notes, medications, sleep, activity, and workout patterns without repeatedly reentering the same details. ChatGPT can also use the connected information across regular conversations, such as considering dietary restrictions when planning a meal or recent activity when suggesting a routine.
OpenAI says the feature includes privacy and security protections. Connected medical records and Apple Health data are not used to train foundation models or target ads, and users can approve access each time, always allow it, or disconnect accounts later. The company also says health conversations are supported by physician testing and model improvements, but ChatGPT is not a replacement for medical professionals.
