Laval police say a 78yearold man has been charged with firstdegree murder after the death of his 77yearold partner in a condo in the Chomedey district, north of Montreal. Police said officers responded on Tuesday afternoon and found the woman dead and the man injured inside the residence. The man, identified as Ronald Thibault, was taken to hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries before being questioned by investigators. The case was later sent to Quebec Crown prosecutors, and Thibault was expected to appear in court by video conference. Police also said they were looking into whether the death should be classified as a femicide.
