Toronto businessman Larry Tanenbaum's Kilmer Sports Ventures and Detroitbased Ilitch Companies have become strategic partners in the Professional Women's Hockey League, marking the league's first outside investment since it launched in 2023. A source told The Canadian Press that Kilmer invested $100 million US directly into the PWHL. The companies will take advisory roles rather than operational ones. Tanenbaum said the move builds on his broader investment in women's sports, including the WNBA's Toronto Tempo. Ilitch Companies said the investment reflects confidence in the league's growth as the PWHL expands to 12 teams for the 202627 season.
