Evacuation orders expand near Clinton, B.C. as wildfires continue
Pear Lake wildfire update: crews use planned ignition to cut fuel near Clinton See the latest evacuation orders, fire activity, and response efforts across B.C.
Crews near Clinton, B.C., carried out a planned ignition on the Pear Lake wildfire on Friday evening to help reduce unburned fuel and improve containment north of the community. The B.C. Wildfire Service said the 160hectare burn was completed in favourable conditions.
The fire has already forced more evacuation orders in the region. New orders from the Cariboo Regional District and the ThompsonNicola Regional District added hundreds of properties, and the Bonaparte First Nation also issued an order. The Village of Clinton said it had not found new property damage in a rapid assessment completed Thursday.
Elsewhere in the province, evacuation orders were also expanded or issued for other wildfires near Lillooet and Lytton, while the number of active fires remained above 100 across B.C. Officials said warm, dry weather was expected to continue, and more outofprovince crews were due to arrive to help.
