Île Mercier bridge reopens in Montreal after flood closure, easing traffic access City warns water may rise again, so check alerts and stay cautious near the river
The Île Mercier bridge in Montreal reopened to vehicles on Saturday after being closed for nearly two weeks because of high water levels on the Rivière des Prairies.
City officials said the bridge, in the L’ÎleBizard–SainteGeneviève borough, reopened at noon, but they warned that water levels could rise again in the coming days. Pedestrians were still allowed to use the bridge, though they were advised to stay away from the area and follow posted instructions.
Montreal also reopened Chemin de L’Anseàl’Orme on Saturday, while reminding residents in floodprone areas to check municipal updates, sign up for alerts, and remain cautious as some parts of the city are still at risk.
