Investigators focus on landing moment in Amazon cargo plane crash
Amazon cargo jet crash investigation examines runway overrun causes in Miami See what investigators may uncover about speed, braking, weather, and safety
U.S. investigators are examining why an Amazon cargo jet left the runway at Miami International Airport and struck vehicles, killing at least five people and injuring others. The crash happened Sunday afternoon after the Boeing 767 arrived from San Juan.
Investigators are expected to focus on whether the plane touched down too far down the runway to stop safely. They will also review speed, braking, weather, wind, and the aircraft’s mechanical and maintenance history.
The National Transportation Safety Board has sent a team to Miami and is expected to provide an initial briefing on Monday. The crash disrupted operations at the airport, and Amazon said it will cooperate with the investigation.
