OpenAI has appointed David Vélez and Robin Vince to the boards of the OpenAI Foundation and OpenAI Group PBC. Vélez is the founder and CEO of Nubank, while Vince leads BNY.
OpenAI said both executives bring experience in technology, governance, and building large institutions through change. The company also pointed to their philanthropic and nonprofit work as part of the reason for the appointments.
Vélez founded Nubank in 2013 and helped build it into one of the largest digital financial services platforms in the world. Vince has led BNY since 2022 and previously held senior roles at Goldman Sachs. OpenAI said their backgrounds will support its work as it seeks to expand the use of AI for businesses and individuals.
