LaSalle College students and staff to return to classes Friday

LaSalle College Montreal returns to class after court ruling keeps the college open See how the Quebec court decision restores funding and settles the school year.

Students and teachers at LaSalle College in Montreal will return to class on Friday after Quebec Superior Court ruled the private subsidized college can operate normally for the 20262027 school year. The decision follows a sixhour hearing on Thursday. Justice Martin Castonguay said the school should continue operating and receive funding while the broader dispute with the Quebec government is worked out. LaSalle College is facing nearly $48 million in financial obligations tied to penalties and subsidy repayment requests. The college had suspended classes after filing for creditor protection and was originally set to begin the school year on Aug. 27.
