Canadian Forces suspend search for six missing people off B.C. coast

The Canadian Armed Forces have suspended their search for six people still missing in waters off Greater Vancouver and handed the operation over to the RCMP. The search followed a charter boat incident near Richmond, B.C., on Sunday morning. Emergency crews were alerted after reports that several people were in the water about 10 nautical miles southwest of Vancouver International Airport. By early afternoon, four people had been rescued and taken to Sea Island Coast Guard Station before being transferred to emergency health services. Authorities said the vessel was believed to have had 10 people on board when it began taking on water. The military ended the search and rescue effort at 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
