The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Gavin McKenna to a threeyear entrylevel contract, the team said Friday.
McKenna, 18, was selected first overall by Toronto in last week’s NHL Draft in Buffalo. He is coming off a strong season with Penn State, where he recorded 15 goals and 36 assists for 51 points in 35 games.
Before his college stint, the Whitehorse native produced 244 points in 133 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He was also named CHL Player of the Year after leading the league with 129 points in 56 games in the 202425 season, and he helped Canada win gold at the 2024 under18 world championship and the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
