Apple finished Monday as the world’s most valuable company, moving ahead of Nvidia at the market close for the first time since April 2025. Nvidia shares fell 5% to a valuation of about $4.77 trillion, as investors continued to worry about the costs tied to the AI infrastructure buildout. Apple shares rose 1% to about $4.95 trillion ahead of its earnings report on Thursday. Nvidia had held the top spot since June 2025, when it passed Microsoft, and briefly reached a $5 trillion market capitalization in October. So far in 2026, Nvidia has gained 4%, while Apple has risen 24%. Investors have favored Apple’s lighter spending approach on AI infrastructure and have also shifted some attention toward memory and data center suppliers tied to the AI boom.
