Several largecap stocks moved sharply during midday trading on Thursday after earnings reports, guidance updates, analyst actions, and capitalraising announcements.
Abbott Laboratories rose nearly 11% after lifting its fullyear adjusted earnings outlook. ManpowerGroup jumped 33% after reporting quarterly results above expectations and guiding for higher thirdquarter revenue. UnitedHealth gained 4% after topping secondquarter profit and revenue estimates and raising its fullyear earnings forecast.
Other notable movers included Cintas, which rose after a Bank of America upgrade, and J.B. Hunt Transport Services, which climbed after beating quarterly estimates. In contrast, TSMC fell after increasing its capital spending plans, AST SpaceMobile dropped after announcing a convertible notes offering, and several airline, theater, and industrial stocks moved lower on guidance changes or analyst downgrades.
