EPA chief says climate projections should be viewed as estimates, not certainties

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said climate forecasts should be treated as ranges of possible outcomes rather than fixed predictions, and he pushed back against calling skeptics “science deniers.” Speaking at the Great American State Fair on Thursday, Zeldin said longterm outlooks for sea level and temperature can change as new data becomes available. He argued that future projections should be updated regularly and compared with realworld conditions over time. Zeldin is also leading a review of the EPA’s 2009 Endangerment Finding, the legal foundation for many federal greenhouse gas regulations. The Trump administration has begun revisiting several climaterelated rules put in place under previous Democratic administrations.
