Toronto warns of possible measles exposure at three health centres

Toronto Public Health is alerting residents to possible measles exposure at three health care sites in the city in late June. The exposures were tied to a travelrelated case, and the agency said five confirmed measles cases linked to travel outside Canada have been reported in Toronto this year. The possible exposure locations and times were the Scarborough Health Network general emergency room on June 28, the Kids Outpatient Clinic on June 30, and Markington Family Care and Walkin Clinic on June 29. Public health officials are asking anyone who may have been exposed to check their vaccination status and watch for symptoms until July 21. Parents or guardians of children under one year old are being told to contact Toronto Public Health right away, since some infants may qualify for immunoglobulin treatment to help prevent infection. The agency also reminded people to wear a medicalgrade mask and call ahead before visiting a clinic or hospital if they think they may have been exposed.
