Halifax comedy festival vendors say they are still unpaid
Halifax festival vendors say they’re owed thousands after Citadel Hill sales See how food truck operators lost more than $60,000 and what happens next
Food truck operators who worked at the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Halifax say they are owed thousands of dollars for their sales after the event at Citadel Hill in August.
Three vendors told CBC News they are missing a combined total of more than $60,000. One said her business handled nearly $29,000 in sales, while another estimated he is owed at least $14,000 before tips.
The vendors say they used the festival’s payment system and were told they would be paid after invoicing, but weeks later they had still not received the money. Some are now asking for a boycott of next year’s event and saying the losses are forcing them to take extra bookings to recover.
