Vancouver city council has approved a major highrise development in the downtown core.
The project, proposed by the Holborn Group, would add three towers to the former Hudson’s Bay parkade site at West Georgia and Seymour streets, along with a social housing building on Abbott Street.
The proposal had faced criticism since it was first introduced last year, with some residents questioning the scale of the towers, the amount of affordable housing planned, and the developer’s track record. Council approved the application in a 73 vote.
