Canada AI strategy gets a new national council to guide growth and safety See how Mark Carney’s experts will shape adoption, infrastructure, and trust
Prime Minister Mark Carney has created a new national council on artificial intelligence to help shape Canada’s AI strategy and address safety concerns as the technology expands.
According to a Friday release from the Prime Minister’s Office, the council will bring together public and privatesector voices to advise on topics including AI adoption, infrastructure, industry development, and protections for democracy and Canadians.
The group includes more than a dozen members, among them Yoshua Bengio, Valérie Pisano, Sen. Tom Pitfield, and Patrick Pichette. The announcement comes as governments and AI companies face growing pressure to balance rapid development with safety, security, and public oversight.
