Canada’s first kitten college opens in Langley, B.C.

National Kitten College trains Metro Vancouver foster volunteers to save newborn cats Join free sessions to build skills, reduce fear, and help orphaned kittens thrive

A new training program focused on neonatal and orphaned kittens has launched in Metro Vancouver. The Langley Animal Protection Society says the initiative, called Canada’s first National Kitten College, is designed to teach people how to care for vulnerable young cats. The program aims to expand foster networks and give people the skills needed to help kittens that are too young to survive without close care. According to LAPS, newborn kittens need warmth, feeding, hygiene support and regular monitoring when their mothers are not present. LAPS says the free sessions are meant to reduce fear, recruit more volunteers and make it easier for the public to support kitten rescue efforts. More courses are planned in the future.
