Canadian hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg won gold in the men's final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a first throw of 80.97 metres, setting a Games record. The 24yearold from Nanaimo, British Columbia, added Commonwealth gold to his Olympic and world titles. He had won silver at the 2022 Games, making this a step up to the top of the podium. Fellow Canadian Rowan Hamilton of Chilliwack, British Columbia, earned bronze with a best throw of 75.36 metres. Iosif Kesidis of Cyprus took silver with 76.97 metres.
