Ford government plans to resume Toronto bike lane removals

Toronto bike lane removals move ahead after court appeal, reshaping key streets See which roads are next and what the province says the changes will mean

The Ford government says it will move ahead with plans to remove bike lanes from several major Toronto streets after winning a court appeal last month. The Ontario Court of Appeal overturned an earlier ruling that had blocked the removals, clearing the way for the province to restart the project on parts of Bloor Street, Yonge Street and University Avenue. Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said the government is following through on its promise to restore space for vehicles and improve traffic flow. The province has begun seeking bids for redesign work, with the first removal expected to start soon on a short section of Bloor Street West in Etobicoke.
