A 35yearold fisherman died on Saturday after a suspected shark attack near Michaelmas Island off the coast of Western Australia, according to local reports. He had been spearfishing in the area when the incident occurred.
Authorities said the man was taken by boat to shore, but paramedics were unable to revive him. Officials believe the shark may have been nearly 15 feet long.
The death came as the third fatal shark attack in Australia in less than a month. Two other fishermen were killed in May, including one on the Great Barrier Reef and another at Rottnest Island. Australia typically records about three shark deaths a year.
