Trump focuses on Ukraine talks at G7 summit

U.S. President Donald Trump said he would continue supporting Ukraine and urged Russia to reach a deal to end the war, as he met with G7 leaders in Evian, France, on Tuesday. Trump held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the summit and said he had also spoken recently with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said the conflict had proven harder to resolve than he expected, but added that he would do what he could. The G7 discussions come as European leaders press Washington to maintain its backing for Kyiv, while the U.S. prepares to sign a memorandum of understanding with Iran later this week to help end the war there. French President Emmanuel Macron said continued support for Ukraine would be a major focus of the meeting, and EU leaders said additional partner funding is still needed.
