Son Heung-min named MLS All-Star Game MVP after two-goal performance
Son Heung-min scores twice as MLS beats Liga MX 4-3 in All-Star thriller See how Son earned MVP and helped seal a statement win in Charlotte
Son Heungmin scored twice and was named MVP as MLS beat Liga MX's AllStars 43 on Wednesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina. The LAFC forward found the net in the 20th and 23rd minutes, with Carles Gil assisting both goals.
The result continued a strong recent run for Son after a slow start to the MLS season and a disappointing World Cup for South Korea. He had scored in three straight league matches before the AllStar Game and also provided assists earlier in the season.
Other MLS goals came from Philip Zinckernagel and Evander, while Salomón Rondón and José Paradela scored for Liga MX. Maxime Crépeau helped preserve the win with six saves after coming on in the second half. LAFC’s next major test will come on Saturday against Vancouver in a key Western Conference matchup.
