TTC schedules Line 1 repairs ahead of World Cup

TTC subway work on Line 1 cuts speeds and closes service between Sheppard West and St. George Shuttle buses replace trains as repairs speed up for World Cup-ready reliability

The TTC plans subway work on Line 1 between Sheppard West and St. George stations over the next week as part of efforts to remove four reduced speed zones before the World Cup in Toronto. The project includes repairs to a damaged concrete slab, installation of a new rail and replacement of track hardware. To complete the work, service will end early on parts of Line 1 on several nights, with a fullday closure planned between St. George and Sheppard West stations starting Sunday morning and continuing into early Monday. The TTC says shuttle buses will operate during closures. The transit agency said the upgrades are being accelerated to improve service ahead of FIFA World Cup events and for the longterm reliability of the network.
